Buffalo is a shade-tolerant, medium growing and drought tolerant variety of grass.

This lawn can withstand up to 70% shade in areas with low wear and up to 50% shade in areas with moderate to high wear, making it a favoured variety for residential and landscaping projects that require shade-tolerant grasses.

The leaves on mature Soft Leaf Buffalo plants tend to fold back giving the plant a much finer appearance and softer feel than other buffalo grasses. At the same time, the variety’s rapid growth across the ground allows it to cope well in high traffic situations ensuring it is always soft underfoot.

This variant of Buffalo is also classed as low allergenic with less seed head compared to other Buffalo variants.

As this grass flourishes in the warmer climate in the Whitsundays, it does require regular mowing to keep this lawn looking at its best.
As this lawn is medium growing, regular fertilising is required every three months.

To maintain a healthy buffalo lawn, an annual dethatch is recommended during Spring.
